Analyis of the race

The ground was largely soft, and was riding on the gluey side.

This was a moderate race, with the exception of RAYSROCK, who had a simple task of following-up his Hexham win last time, which was hardly out of turn, given his previous misfortunes. His penalty was offset by his rider's 10lb claim, and he promptly capitalized without being seriously pressed. He will not run again this season and will be sent chasing next season.

Midas is the only other horse to take out of this race. A well-related newcomer, he took time to get the message of what was required, but he showed a useful level of potential. Experience will bring him on a bundle.
