Il Warrd disputed lead until definite advantage over 3f out, shaken up 2f out, drew away final furlong
Gaspar Van Wittel held up, ridden and progress to chase leading pair over 1f out, no chance with winner but kept on to take 2nd last 100yds
Latin Lad disputed lead to over 3f out, chased winner after, no chance entering final furlong, lost 2nd last 100yds
Fool´s Wildcat held up, effort on inner over 2f out, no impression on leaders over 1f out, well outpaced after
Geezers Colours tracked leaders, ridden 2f out, soon no progress, faded inside final furlong
Speedy Dollar raced wide, in touch, lost place and beaten over 2f out, plugged on
Last Of The Line always in last pair, struggling over 2f out
Eastern Gift raced wide, with leaders to over 3f out, soon weakened and behind
Gaspar Van Wittel was more patiently ridden over this longer trip. He took second from Latin Lad near the finish, but he was not closing on the winner. Probably a decent run nevertheless, for Latin Lad was the form choice and the pair were both clear of the rest.
The rest were beaten upwards of eight lengths, Fool’s Wildcat just getting the better of Geezers Colours for fourth, with Speedy Dollar, who looked the part but was not sure to get this longer distance, further back in sixth after seeing plenty of daylight from his outside draw.
