This looked the strongest of the card’s three Listed races over the trip and it was run in significantly the fastest time.IL WARRD impressed at Ascot last year before running too keen and finishing down the field in a Group 2 at Goodwood. A 2,000 Guineas and Dante entry, he was to the fore throughout and forged well clear in the final furlong to win impressively, from the two market leaders, which suggests the form should be all right. He was said to be Marcus Tregoning’s best juvenile last year and Goodwood was simply too bad to be true. Only his stable's second runner of the year, he won in a style which suggests he is worth his chance in the Guoneas, but Tregoning is wary of running him on quick ground. For those prepared to take a chance on hisparticipation, he is as big as 40-1 with Blue Square.

Gaspar Van Wittel was more patiently ridden over this longer trip. He took second from Latin Lad near the finish, but he was not closing on the winner. Probably a decent run nevertheless, for Latin Lad was the form choice and the pair were both clear of the rest.

The rest were beaten upwards of eight lengths, Fool’s Wildcat just getting the better of Geezers Colours for fourth, with Speedy Dollar, who looked the part but was not sure to get this longer distance, further back in sixth after seeing plenty of daylight from his outside draw.
