Jazz Jam tracked leaders, effort over 2f out, progress to lead over 1f out, ridden and stayed on well
Comeback Queen held up in last pair, effort over 2f out, progress over 1f out, got through final furlong and ran on to take 2nd last 50yds
Madame Hoi raced freely, led to over 2f out, rallied to dispute 2nd 1f out, kept on
Elizabeth Swann took keen hold, held up in last trio, progress on outer over 2f out, ridden to challenge over 1f out, not quicken, one pace final furlong
Frivolous tracked leader, led over 2f out, ridden and headed over 1f out, weakened inside final furlong
Love Of Dubai held up in midfield, ridden to chase leaders over 1f out, well held when squeezed out last 100yds
Jeninsky soon restrained in last, not clear run on inner well over 1f out and switched, shaken up inside final furlong, ran on, never near leaders
Honky Tonk Sally taken down early, held up in midfield on inner, ridden over 2f out, weakened over 1f out
Kay Es Jay took keen hold, tracked leaders on outer, ridden to challenge over 2f out, weakened over 1f out
JAZZ JAM won her nursery off only 72, but a subsequent Listed second over this trip gave her a chance and she represented a stable that has made a blinding start to the turf season. There were plenty with chances 2f out, but once she got to the front she was always going to win. The Italian 1,000 Guineas is on the agenda now.
Comeback Queen, fifth in the Listed race in which the winner was second, has an Oaks entry, which suggested that 1m round here would be sharp enough unless they went very quick, which they didn’t. Held up in rear, she had to weave her way through the pack and gave Love Of Dubai a bump before running on strongly to close the winner down inside the final furlong. She is going to be very well suited by further.
Madame Hoi is still a maiden, but Irish Classic entries suggested she is well regarded and she made a pleasing AW debut. While she admittedly had the run of the race and was allowed to dictate her own pace, she kept on well when headed.
Frivolous, another who had already won round here this year, was reluctant to go in the stalls but got to the front briefly in the straight and seemed to run her race. Love Of Dubai, who had good form in Dubai, would have been a bit closer but for being squeezed up between ComebackQueen and Elizabeth Swann inside the final furlong.
Jeninsky also ran better than her finishing position suggests, for she was going on well at the finish, with something left in the tank, having been held up last in a slowly run race and then denied a run when trying to nose up the inner at the intersection.
Honky Tonk Sally ran moderately, and Kay Es Jay, who was dropped in class, was very disappointing, having been quite keen early on.
