This was a return to form for the winner, and his trainer explained that his horses in general had really started to sparkle in the last couple of weeks, that this horse was just starting to come to himself (he is still quite wintry in his coat) and that the handicapper was beginning to loosen his grip on him. This victory proved the winnercapable of staying this far.
King’s Bastion ran a cracking race in second and, had he not hung to his right, he might well have prevailed. He will probably go up a couple of pounds for this effort, given that he finished clear of the third, but heshould be able to go one better.
Eau Good ran a cracker and was only outpointed inside the last, while Chjimes, fit from the all-weather, made a promising return to turf.
Society Music was far from disgraced on her first run for nearly seven months, while recent winner Tencendur was comfortably beaten.
