A fair contest, produced a good finish with A BIG SKY BREWING getting up in the final strides to win in the style of a horse who may prove suited by a 1m in time. He had won his maiden over 6f, since when he has been tried at a range of distances up to 1m3f, but now fitted with blinkers for this first run on the all-weather, he finished best of all to gain a hard-earned win.

Straight Face, who had won his last three races - two of them banded races - from the front at Kempton, was held up off the pace on this occasion but ran right up to his Kempton form, staying on to take the measure of Optical Illusion 50 yards from the line - before being mugged late on by the winner.

Greenwood looked to be travelling well on the home turn but found disappointingly little offthe bridle and he has yet to be placed in nine runs here, reserving his best all-weather form for Lingfield.

A punt on Shaftesbury Avenue went astray when the horse missed the break and could never make up the lost ground.
