A typically trappy low-grade handicap, fell to REBEL DUKE, who made light of the 6lb penalty he picked-up at Southwell last week and comfortably overcame his wide draw. Confidently ridden, he nailed the runner-up inside the final furlong and won withsomething to spare. He looks in great nick at present.

The handsome Alexander Huricane, who was never out of the first two, was produced to win his race, but he was found wanting when the winner took his measure. He looked a little ill-at-ease on this soft ground and may be seen to better effect on a sounder surface.

Argentine may have needed this comeback outing, Whinhill House, a stablemate of the winner, ran fast from his rails berth before fading in the final two furlongs; he will be all the better for this comeback outing.
