Royalist tracked leaders, pulled hard, led over 4f out, shaken up over 1f out, edged right inside final furlong, ran on well
Alwaabel always prominent, chased winner 3f out, ridden and carried head to one side over 1f out, no extra inside final furlong
Bowder Stone slowly into stride, held up in touch, switched left over 2f out, soon ridden, hung left and outpaced, ran on inside final furlong
Ninefineirishmen with leaders, ridden over 2f out, stayed on same pace final furlong
Spirit Of A Nation held up in touch, ridden over 2f out, stayed on same pace final furlong
Game Hunt tracked leaders, ridden and hung right over 1f out, weakened final furlong
Grey Command held up, raced keenly, ridden over 2f out, weakened over 1f out
Szaba held up, pulled hard, ridden over 2f out, weakening when hung right well over 1f out
Castlebury chased leaders 5f
Profumo Affair prominent, ridden halfway, weakened over 2f out
August Gale not much room start, soon led, headed over 4f out, weakened over 2f out
Alwaabel is the key to the form. Like the winner, he raced towards the middle but was outpaced in the final furlong and may just have needed the run. He was more exposed than most of these, but ran well enough to suggest he can win a race. Bowder Stone showed more than on his only run last year, keeping on for third place despite edging left.
Game Hunt travelled well but again didn't seem to stay and faded in the final furlong. Profumo Affair and Castlebury were well beaten but looked the sorts who will improve and could make their marks in small handicaps. The disappointment was August Gale, who dropped out from halfway and ran nowhere near the form he had shown on his Lingfield debut. He may need better ground.
