PRINCELYWALLYWOGAN, a promising third at long odds eight days previously, was nicely backed in the morning but was weak in the market on track. That did not stop him winning, though, as he made his effort on the outside of the pack in the straight and was in front over a furlong out. He is much improved for the switch to turf, and he might be a bit better than the bare form as his rider reported he idled a bit in front.
Ex-Irish bumper horse Flight Dream got to the front briefly but then tended to hang. Although five and still a maiden, he is only lightly raced and might yet win a similar race.
Ruling Reef won a selling hurdle five days previously but had also run well on both of her Flat starts this year. She kept on under pressure and only just failed to snatch second.
There was plenty of money for the former Barney Curley-trained nine-year-old Muskatsturm, who was useful in his day but is now trained in Ireland and had been off the track 1,320 days. Having given trouble at the start he travelled well on the heels of the leaders until they turned in, but he then got shuffled back and bumped about a bit before staying on again. One could not say he was unlucky, but he is a bit better than the bare form and might be worth another chance over a a bit further or on softer ground.
