BONNIE PRINCE BLUE, who won first time out this year, had been freshened up since his last run two months ago and returned to turf on a favourable mark, 6lb lower than on the all-weather. In the first three or four throughout, he led about a furlong out and won decisively in a time well over a second quicker than the three-year-olds had taken half an hour earlier. Connections feel he is best fresh.
Nobilissima, off the track six months, was bang there all of the way and ran well, as did Mujood, who after his third in the corresponding race last year off a 2lb higher mark went on to win a nice handicap at the first Goodwood meeting.
The former Listed class sprinter Andronikos looked well treated off 82 and represented a stable in great form, but he was without the usual tongue-tie and had stall nine to overcome. Having been dropped in at the back of the field he was never going to get involved, and although he was going on quite nicely at the finish, it is worth remembering he has never won a handicap and has become expensive to follow.
Dickie Le Davoir, who missed the break, was clear of the rest.
