Northern Tour made all, pushed along 2f out, comfortably
Soul Sista awkward leaving stalls, soon bustled along, chased winner after 1f, ridden well over 1f out, kept on same pace final furlong
Sorrel Ridge chased winner for 1f, ridden well over 1f out, weakened final furlong
Strictly Royal always behind, lost touch halfway, tailed off
This was weakened by the two non-runners, and NORTHERN TOUR, sixth in the Brocklesby and the only one with previous experience, probably had little to beat. Having broken fast, he wasable to grab the stands’ rail and make all, and although his rider had to get after him at halfway when he started to look about a bit, he never had to pick up his whip and in the end he was just nudged out for a fairly comfortable win, the third so far from runners who ran in the Brocklesby. He clearly has speed, but is also bred to get further.
Sorrel Ridge was on his toes in the paddock and looked as if he would come on for the race. He tracked the winner up the rail but was unable to go with him from halfway.
The visor was not a good sign on Strictly Royal, and he showed little, always trailing the field after a slowish start.
