Mulberry Lad in rear, headway over 1f out, stayed on well final furlong, going on close home

An exciting finale as MARMOOQ produced a strong run down the middle of the track to hit the front in the last strides.

Regal Royale set a strong enough gallop and the winner, who was dropped in from his wide gate, was still last turning for home, but he really took off after the two-furlong pole and got there in the nick of time. He usually races over 7f, but appreciated the strong gallop to this contest and he’s a reliable type around here.

High Reach kept on at the one pace and ran well enough given that these conditions are plenty quick enough for him.

Mulberry Lad put behind him some poor runs, staying on in the closing stages and not being beaten far.
