King´s Ransom led at strong pace, came back to field 4f out, headed and outpaced over 1f out, lost 2nd last strides

Wheelavit chased leading pair 4f, dropped to last 4f out, outpaced over 2f out, no danger after

Sun Of The Sea slowly into stride, tracked leaders from halfway, close up over 2f out, weakened tamely

Smokin Joe took keen hold, held up in touch, ridden 3f out, soon lost touch and beaten

This was a modest little handicap, confined to apprentice riders, which was run at a sound pace.

GIVEN A CHOICE showed his true colours under a well-judged ride and registered his first success for current connections at the fourth time of asking.He had run no sort of race at Kempton last time, but found the way the race was run to his liking and was on a decent mark if bouncing back. Considering that he escapes a penalty for this ready success, he will deserve a good deal of respect next time out now his confidence will have been boosted.

Putra Square, third on the Fibresand 13 days previously, hit a flat spot turning into the final bend and was not that suited by the drop back to this distance. That said he does look less than straightforward.

Wheelavit, third over course and distance three days previously, was racing from 1lb out of the handicap and never seriously figured from off the pace. He may have found this coming too soon.

Sun Of The Sea failed to raise his game for the application of first-time blinkers and disappointed. He now has something to prove.
