Silky Steps steadied start, held up towards rear, headway over 2f out, kept on under pressure to go 3rd well inside final furlong, not trouble leading pair

Mrs Summersby towards rear, ridden and struggling over 3f out, kept on under pressure from over 1f out, never troubled leaders

Easy Wonder in touch ridden and effort well over 1f out, chased leading pair over 1f out, soon weakened

Copperwood chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, weakened final furlong

Bid Art slowly away and dropped in behind, hung left from over 2f out, never dangerous

Shatter Resistant took keen hold, chased leaders, went 2nd over 3f out until well over 1f out, soon hung left and not run on

Gower Belle took keen hold, hampered over 6f out, effort over 2f out, weakened over 1f out

Saafend Geezer slowly into stride, always behind

Ruby Delta always struggling towards rear, eased inside final furlong

Southwest Star prominent, ridden over 3f out, soon struggling, behind last 2f

Although the ratings band was just 56 to 70 there were a couple of unexposed runners in the line-up.

As in the previous maiden, the stands' rail proved the place to be and Kempton 1m AW winner DESIDERIO crossed almost straight over from stall 11 to make all and hold the runner-up's determined challenge. He had been too free in blinkers over 1m3f at Warwick last time, and he clearly suited being allowed to bowl along over this shorter trip.

Danseuse Volante was tried in Listed company on her final start at two, so she was potentially well treated here off 70 despite top-weight. She followed the winner up the rail and began a strong challenge inside the last two furlongs. She ran really well, and although she was always just held she was clear of the rest.

Mrs Summersby and Easy Wonder raced towards the middle of the track. Mrs Summersby was making her handicap debut and ran on from off the pace, showing a bit more this time.

Easy Wonder, who has been busy on the AW, improved to look dangerous but then did not get home. This 7f may just have stretched her again.

Further back the slow-starting Bid Art was inclined to hang, and although he passed several rivals to finish in mid-division he looks one to be wary of.
