Vital Spark led, quickened 11th, headed 2 out, rallied run-in, no extra
Mister Friday went prominent 5th, lost place 11th, detached 4 out, stayed on from 2 out, took modest 3rd run-in
Gabor prominent, reminders 8th, lost place 10th, detached 3 out, edged left and stayed on to take modest 4th run-in
Fullards chased leaders, hit 2nd, one pace from 3 out
Over To Joe chased leaders, driven along 13th, one pace from next
Royal Gunner chased leaders, weakened rapidly 4 out, behind when pulled up before next
Analyis of the race
This may not have been the hottest of hunter chases. Given a confident ride ITZACLICHE jumped well and won well. He is considered to have the speed to make his mark over two-and-a-half and two-and-three-quarter miles and there will be others races tobe won with him.
Vital Spark appreciated being back on a sounder surface than of late and he stuck to his task well but could not peg back the winner. However, he was conceding 7lb and has come out the best horse in the race.
Gabor stayed on without being able to get in a blow. Fullards had won three of his last four points but there did not appear any excuses here. Over To Joe was hard at work early on the final circuit and appeared to lack the pace to take a serious hand in proceedings.
