I’m So Lucky had been running well in less exacting company and turned in a fine effort, but having looked be travelling very strongly in the straight and moving up to have every chance at the final flight he did not see the trip out as well as the winner - he clearly barely stays 2m4f and is likely to do at least as well when presented with less of a test of stamina.
Ring The Boss ran a fine race as after showing up well from the off he was caught behind a weakening rival on the inside in the straight but kept on again well in the latter stages - this was a fine effort off his lofty mark and suggests he is still improving as a hurdler.
Shatabdi found this company more suitable than when taking on top mares at Cheltenham and ran another good race in a contest in which she had finished third 12 months previously, while top weight Trouble At Bay may notquite have seen out the trip. Junior ran creditably but may now be in the handicapper’s grip, as may Gustavo.
Palomar and Kingscape are others who may not have stayed the trip - the latter in particular is a lightly raced novice who iswell worth another chance back at a shorter distance. Tot O’Whiskey could not quite reproduce his decent Sandown form, while Peacock was always behind and never threatened - he had been staying on in the Coral Cup at Cheltenham and this test of speed did not suit him at all. He may be worth another chance back on a stiffer track. [DC]
