Analyis of the race

A moderate affair, won readily by FUJIN DANCER on his handicap debut. A staying-on third on his recent reappearance in a 6f maiden at Southwell, the colt made the expected improvement on this step up in trip and should get further in time. He is beginning his handicap career on a good mark and can be expected to win more races this spring.

Tapas Lad, the most experienced member of the field with 20 runs under his belt, has generally come from off the pace but was given his head on this occasion and turned in easily his best effort since he won a seller here at the start of the year. However, he is going to remain vulnerable to unexposed sorts such as the winner here.

Yakama was doing all his best work late on, staying on past Scientific, who is well-exposed in this grade.

*Seb Sanders reported that Ricci de Mare was never travelling.
