Fire Up The Band made all, clear well over 1f out, pushed out
Funfair Wane held up, headway and hung left over 1f out, took 2nd close home, no chance with winner
Desperate Dan chased winner, ridden over 1f out, no impression
Doubtful Sound behind, ridden well over 1f out, kept on towards finish
Grimes Faith prominent, hung left from over 2f out, eased when beaten inside final furlong
His stablemate Funfair Wane, a dual Ayr Gold Cup winner in his time but a very moderate performer these days, hung left as he plugged on for a never-dangerous second. He had also hung left on his final outing last season, but did win a couple of little races on turf in 2005 and should again be able to make his mark in selling/claiming class back on grass this time round.
Doubtful Sound had a stiff task at the weights and ran as well as could be expected in the circumstances, while Grimes Faith hung from halfway and was left behind in the straight.
