Quiet Elegance steadied start, held up towards rear, headway 3f out, ridden to challenge inside final furlong, ran green but ran on to lead near finish
Inxile taken down early, steadied start, headway to lead over 4f out, ridden just over 2f out, headed and no extra near finish
Irish Pearl chased leaders, went 2nd over 2f out, soon ridden, unable to quicken under pressure final furlong
Victorian Bounty chased leader until led after 1f, soon headed, chased leaders after, ridden 2f out, kept on same pace
Oasis Wind hung right throughout, took keen hold, chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, no headway from over 1f out
Ramatni led for 1f, soon struggling in rear
Eternal Luck always behind, ridden after 1f, never dangerous
QUIET ELEGANCE was the lowest-rated member of the field, but the handicapper did not have muchto go on as the filly had run just once as a juvenile, winning a Nottingham maiden on easy ground. This half-sister to top sprinter Reverence confirmed her liking for soft ground here, and showed that she has gone the right way over the winter as she came with a strong late run to gain the day. She still showed signs of greenness, running about under pressure, and can only improve.
Inxile, who had sprung a surprise on his debut in a 5f fast-ground Haydock maiden last September, showed that performance was no fluke, and proved himself just as effective on this surface, as he travelled well in front throughout. Though run out of it close home, there was much to like about this seasonal debut and he should do well for his shrewd trainer.
Victorian Bounty, who had done his running on good to fast ground when trained by Eoghan O'Neill last season, ran creditably on this debut for his new trainer and may do better back on a quicker surface.
Oasis Wind was best in on official figures but hung throughout and was presumably unhappy on the ground.
Ramatni's two juvenile wins came on fast ground and she was never travelling.
