Bull Market tracked leader, led well over 1f out, ridden and ran on well
Turner´s Touch steadied start, pulled hard and patiently ridden from behind, headway when not clear run inside final 2f, switched wide, ran on to take 2nd final 75yds
Lucayan Dancer held up in 4th, headway to chase winner over 1f out, not quicken final furlong, lost 2nd final 75yds
Steely Dan held up in 3rd, effort over 2f out, weakened over 1f out
Brigadore led and set moderate tempo, ridden and quickened over 3f out, headed well over 1f out, soon weakened
BULL MARKET looked a somewhat fortunate winner. He got first run on his rivals and strode clear. A spell over hurdles appears to have sweetened him up and this win may do wonders for his confidence.
The moral victor was Turner’s Touch, who had the door shut on him by Steely Dan when making his move. His rider had a double handful a furlong and a half out but he lost momentum and, after he was eventually switched wide, he found the post coming tosoon. It was not his jockey’s finest hour. He is very capable of winning a similar contest.
