STREET LIFE had been struggling to make an impression on the all-weather recently, and he seemed to be toiling three furlongs out here, but Chris Catlin finally got him into top gear a furlong out and he finished to great effect to take full advantage of a handicap mark that had slipped 11lb since he won at Leicester last spring.
Ryan’s Future, another horse whose handicap mark has tumbled in recent times after a string of defeats, had run fourth of 16 on his return to turf action at Warwick last week and stepped up on that effort with his staying-on second here. He should soon find a little race.
Nutkin, the least exposed member of the field, was rather keen early on but still ran a cracking race. She saw off a series of challenges in the last two furlongs before being mugged by the two late finishers, but there was much to like about thisfirst run in six months from the filly and she should soon be paying her way.
Rebellious Spirit, who had won four on the bounce since joining Sean Curran, was carrying a 6lb penalty for his victory at Warwick last week but had an extra two furlongs to travelhere and the longer distance on soft ground found him out.
