Connections nominated the Abernant Stakes at Newmarket later this month and the Duke of York Stakes at York in May as likely targets for Sonny Red.
Hoh Hoh Hoh, who had finished behind Sonny Red and Strike Up The Band in a Listed race at Doncaster last month, bounced back to his very best form here and, while he will not be easy to win with this season, this performance does suggest that he has progressed from five to six.
Reverence, who had his problems last year and ran just three times, travelled well on the outside but could not sustain his challenge in the final furlong. However, he is entitled to come on a lot for this first run in seven months and heoffered enough encouragement here to suggest he can get back to winning ways before long. But it remains to be seen whether he can again reach the heights of 2006, when he won two Group 1 races; he certainly has a long way to go from here to get back to that level.
