There was a lot of money during the day for CAPE COLONY, which proved well placed as he just got up. Ideally positioned throughout, he always looked to be going well but ran into a couple of pockets when space was needed. Even a furlong out, he looked to have a bit to do but he stayed on well for pressure and shaped like one who will get further.
Gunnadoit got extremely warm before the off, so his effort is all the more meritorious. He would have been a good winner without Cape Colony and compensation surely awaits.
Front-running Novestar looks to be improving, as he has been beaten in selling grade. An exposed sort, he will always be vulnerable to something with a bit of improvement left in them.
Io came through to have every chance but could not quicken when it mattered. She still looks a bit unfurnished and may get better as the season progresses.
Captain Mainwaring was another with plenty of size about him. He still looked inexperienced under pressure and will definitely benefit from the run and a step upin trip.
Asmodea again shaped with a hint of promise without suggesting she is ready to strike. Lord’s Bidding looks a hard ride and the blinkers did not appear to improve his attitude.
Dawn Wind, who looked unlucky last time, seemed tohave every chance but failed to get home, while Lady Florence, who had shaped nicely in maidens, ran a stinker.
