An interesting maiden, which should produce a few winners. Honours went to one of the newcomers, MARVELLOUS VALUE, who overcame a wide draw to score in pleasing style. He was nicely fancied here and looks the type to go on.

Ancient Cross, who has changed stables since last season, made a bright start to the season, belying his odds by running a fine race in defeat. He should soon go one better.

Flying Sommelier fulfilled previous promise, while Binario Uno, dropped back in trip, alsoran a creditable race; he can now venture down the handicap route.

Atlantic Beach, another who was making his debut, travelled well behind the leaders and was produced to win his race, only to flatten out as he was squeezed for room; this outing will not have been wasted on him.

Moonage Daydream failed to get a clear run and ran better than his placing might suggest.
