Tiger´s Rocket pressed leading pair and raced towards outer, led just over 2f out and soon crossed to near side rail, ridden and stayed on well from over 1f out
Zeffirelli took keen hold early, tracked leader, challenged over 2f out, chased winner after, kept on but no impression final furlong
Rub Of The Relic tracked leaders, shaken up over 2f out, effort under pressure over 1f out, disputed 2nd final furlong, kept on
Coole Dodger held up in last pair, steady progress from just over 2f out and edged towards outer, ridden over 1f out, kept on same pace
Secret Meaning raced on wide outside, close up, well on terms with winner 2f out, weakened just over 1f out
Mad Man Will led and soon crossed to near side rail, headed just over 2f out, soon weakened
Hero Heart held up in last pair, pushed along and no progress over 2f out, weakened over 1f out
Una Auroraborealis always in rear, weakened over 2f out
TIGER'S ROCKET had not cut much ice on turf before, but he had been in decent form on the AW, winning twice at Wolverhampton, and this represented a drop in class. Despite carrying a penalty and racing on the outside of the group from the start, he won convincingly, and as he is not a bad-looking sort it was no surprise when he was sold afterwards for 7,400 gns to Steve Gollings.
Rub Of The Relic was just best in on BHA ratings and had soft-ground form. He seemed to run his race in third, ahead of Coole Dodger, who was nicely backed and finished best of the beaten horses after being given a bit to do.
