La Cortezana held up, headway halfway, close up 4f out, ridden along 3f out and soon weakened

Mollie Blackburn led, joined and ridden along 4f out, driven and headed 2f out, soon weakened

A weak maiden. AN SCARIBH had not shown a lot in four runs at up to 6f last year, but he has evidently gone the right way since his last outing in September, and this big step up in trip was the right move for him. He still looked green and can only improve and, while it remains to be seen what the bare form of this race amounts to, he should start his handicap career on a modest mark and is with a trainer adept at exploiting such a situation.

Azabu Juban was the clear form pick on her recent fourth of 15 in better class at Doncaster, but the value of that form did look somewhat questionable and her limitations were shown up here. She came off the bridle before the home turn and, though she came back on and looked the likely winner a furlong out, she found little when An Scaribh through down his challenge.
