Leading and Polytrack are the keys to KING'S RANSOM with connections unable to offer anything other than a dislike for the Fibresand for his poor run last time. Crucially, he was not taken on for the lead here and, while the pack closed up the straight, he was always holding them gamely to defy another high mark after a successful all-weather campaign. The handicapper and rivals more alert to his preferences will make life tougher from here.
Murrin, who looked well for this seasonal return, had been given a chance by the handicapper to drop slightly in class. He got hemmed in running downhill at the back but got a dream run through up the rail. He kept on to grab second late and can step up on the bare form with this run under his belt to winat this level.
Happy As Larry was the only other one to hold a chance but he weakened in the final 100yds which was disappointing.
Teen Ager, who showed signs of temperament pre-race, was reported to have been denied a clear run.
