The winner stayed on strongly after the last to get the better of Double Shot and post the first success of his career. His trainer doesn’t believe he is ungenuine and he’s a strong stayer when in the mood.
Double Shot came through to lead at the second-last and ran a fine race in defeat. The step up in trip on his handicap debut clearly worked for him and there is probably more to come from him.
So Now crept into the contest in eyecatching style, but he didn’t really find as much as looked likely and the combination of the 12lb hike and soft ground probably did for him.
