Decree Nisi settled in midfield, shaken up and progress 3 out, led before 2 out, soon in command, driven out flat
Doubly Sharp raced wide, close up, progress after 5th, led briefly before 2 out, chased winner after, kept on but always held
War Pennant settled in midfield, shaken up after 3 out, some progress 2 out but not on terms, kept on one pace flat
Darkshape held up well in rear, in touch at back of main group after 3 out, kept on from next, no danger
Cavendish not fluent towards rear, lost touch 3 out, latched on to rear of main group before next, kept on, no danger
St Pancras prominent, chased leader 5th to 3 out, soon hard ridden, weakened before next
Eila held up in midfield, progress going well to dispute 2nd 3 out, driven and weakened before 2 out
Purr raced wide in last, lost touch 4th, kept on steadily from 3 out, never a factor
Tetragon led, driven and headed before 2 out, weakened
Sea Cookie not jump well, prominent, driven and in touch after 3 out, soon weakened
Chalice Welcome held up towards rear, jumped slowly 3rd, in touch 3 out, soon weakened
Ful Of Grace always in rear, mistake 3rd, already lost touch when mistake 5th, tailed off
First Frost mostly chased leader to 5th, weakened rapidly, eased when tailed off after 3 out
No Telling held up well in rear, steady progress before 3 out, ridden before next, went 10 lengths 3rd and fell heavily last
Midnight Spirit prominent, close up 5th, weakened rapidly next, tailed off when pulled up before 2 out
Chariot towards rear when mistake and unseated rider 1st
North Walk held up, hampered 2nd, behind after, tailed off when pulled up before 2 out
The winner drew away in the closing stages despitelooking in the handicappers grip and there will be more to come from this horse back on a sound surface. He could pick up a race or two this summer if holding his form.
Darkshape, whose sole win came in 2005, has been badly out of sorts recently and this was at least a better effort.
The rider of Purr reported that his mountlost a back shoe.
