Dip Anchor held up, not fluent 3rd, ridden and headway after 3 out, chased winner from 2 out, no impression
Kornati Kid soon with leader, led 3rd until hit 7th, not fluent 9th, weakened 3 out
Crank Hill chased leaders, ridden and went 2nd after 3 out, weakened after 2 out
Rate Of Knots held up, some headway after 7th, ridden and weakened approaching 9th, tailed off when pulled up before 2 out
Quasimodo always behind, lost touch from 6th, tailed off when pulled up before 8th
Analyis of the race
A run of the mill handicap hurdle. MAGNIFICO had plummeted down the weights since his last win and did not run with the declared tongue-tie, but that made no difference as he gained a softish lead and won easily in the end.
He was thrown-in if recapturing some of his old form, but that had to be taken on trust as he was tailed-off last time. The difference here was an uncontested lead, and he looks the type for whom things have to fall right and there is no guarantee that he will repeat the dose.
Kornati Kid has won in testing ground, but was conceding weight all round and found it beyond him in the conditions.
Crank Hill is not as exposed as some of these, but he probably wants better ground.
