Barraland close up, led after 1f, ridden over 1f out, kept on well under pressure inside final furlong
Kinout tracked leaders, headway to chase winner well over 1f out, ridden and edged left entering final furlong, kept on same pace
Andrasta towards rear, headway 2f out, switched right and ridden over 1f out, stayed on inside final furlong, nearest finish
Our Sunnie chased leaders, ridden along 2f out, soon driven, carried head high and no impression
Miss Sunshine always in rear
Paddy Jack went badly right start, led 1f, soon ridden along, lost place halfway and soon behind
Chivola chased leading pair on outer, ridden along over 2f out, soon weakened
This wasn’t a particularly competitive sprint for three-year-olds, and perhaps there are more negatives than positives to be gleaned from the result. BARRALAND had looked is handicaps last season, but began the season on his lowest mark, and had the benefit of a run on the all-weather. After being slightly hampered at the start, he soon recovered, led after a furlong and ran on strongly. He looked well, and won decisively, but it’s debatable as to quite what he achieved here.
Paddy Jack gained a slight advantage at the stalls, but went right as he did so and hampered a couple on his outside, and though he led up for a furlong, he was soon struggling. Chivola was never goingat any stage.
