An imposing individual, this was the winner’s firstListed success. Whether he can make the next jump into Pattern class remains to be seen. The Abernant Stakes will be his next target.
Sonny Red, who goes well fresh and with ease in the ground, made a bright start to the campaign, and was only just held by Aahayson. He will not be an easy horse to place, but is clearly talented.
Wi Dud was another to make a most encouraging return to action. He was beginning to find his stride when the winner rolled towards him and closed the door on the rails inside the final furlong, and he was never able to regain his momentum.
Ripples Maid, back from Dubai, did her best work late on, while Lady Grace made a respectable reappearance.
Lovelace is almost certainly more effective over 7f. (TOR)
