Namroud held up in rear, headway approaching 2 out, soon ridden and stayed on approaching last, nearest finish
Carrietau led, ridden along and hit 3 out, joined next, soon driven and headed, gradually weakened
Wally Wonder chased leader, ridden along and mistake 3 out, soon driven and gradually weakened
Sybarite Chief in touch, pushed along and lost place halfway, ridden along and headway after 3 out, kept on from next, not reach leaders
Rehearsal held up, good headway 5th, chased leaders next, close up 2 out, soon ridden and held when not much room approaching last, weakened flat

Sir Night chased leaders, ridden along approaching 3 out and soon weakened
Nevinstown held up, mistake 1st and behind until pulled up after 2 out

Analyis of the race
This was quite competitive for a 0-115 handicap hurdle and it went to JOHN DILLON, who was gaining his second win in five starts over hurdles. Although he's quite consistent, he is not the most straight forward of characters, and was off the bridle and looking held three out. However, he came back on the scene running to the last, but hung right, and though he soon led, he then pulled himself up in front and only scraped home. He won't go up much for this narrow success and should continue to give a good account. He leaves the impression he is better than he cares to show.
Namroud, third in a Catterick seller on his previous start, was a creditable fourth with Carrietau, who made the running in fifth.
Rehearsal was a shade disappointing because he travelled well and looked as though he was going to be involved in the finish after three out, but he faded.
