The Langer tracked leader to 5th, jumped left 11th, jumped badly left when 15 lengths down 4 out, stayed on to go 2nd approaching 2 out, led before last, soon clear

Minella Lodge tracked leader 5th, ridden and weakened 3 out, hampered and left 2nd last

On Y Va in rear, stayed on from 3 out but never on terms

Oscar Jo held up in rear, jumped slowly 4th, blundered and unseated rider next

Flinders Bay mistake 1st, in touch when hit 11th, soon pulled up

Analyis of the race

A fair few of these came into this with question marks hanging over their heads and a fair few of them still have the same question marks after. THE LANGER had looked like having to settle for third place when 15l behind the leader as he made anothermistake four out, but his stamina came into play in difficult conditions and after taking it up approaching the last he pulled right away on the run-in. He clearly likes it round here and there could be more to come from him if he gets conditions in his favour again.
