Wheres Johnny tracked leaders, ridden and lost place after 8th, rallied to chase leader after 3 out, 6 lengths down next, stayed on under pressure to lead last 100yds
Forest Silver with leader until led 8th, clear after 3 out, 6 lengths up and ridden next, wandered last, headed and no extra last 100yds
Go Johnny Go led until 8th, chased leader until soon after 3 out, soon ridden and well beaten, tailed off
You Know Bridie took keen hold, held up well in touch, ridden and struggling after 9th, left 5th and hampered next, tailed off
Rebel Rock held up in last, mistake 6th, ridden after 8th, lost touch next, tailed off
Paradis Blue held up in touch, ridden and struggling after 9th, left modest 4th next, tailed off
Hoof It Harry tracked leaders, 4th and ridden when fell 3 out
Unsurprisingly this was a real war of attrition and Forest Silver, who looked to have the race sewn up when clear entering the straight, stopped to a virtual walk after the last and that enabled the dour galloper WHERES JOHNNY to snatch victory in the closing stages.
The winner is much better suited by a sound surface, but his trainer described him as being ‘made of iron' and he certainly has the right attitude for the game. He will be going novice chasing after May.
There was a mile back to Go Johnny Go who didn't really handle conditions.
You Know Bridie has shown next to nothing so far and he trailed in a distant fourth.
