it is open to debate exactly how much improvement OCEAN LEGEND needed to show. He was the most exposed runner in the line-up and had shown only fair form previously but after leading over furlong out he held on gamely. He is clearly as good on Fibresand as he is on Polytrack but already has a BHA rating of 72 and will not be thrown in when switched to handicaps.
Pentathlon showed the benefit of his debut with an improved effort; pushed along over three furlongs out but making ground from over a furlong out and keeping on inside the final furlong. He betrayed his inexperience by tending to edge left and should progress again.
Key News probably ran close to the form he had shown when finishing second on her debut here six weeks earlier; leading until over furlong out.
Kirkie confirmed the improvement he had shown on his previous start and will be easier to place now that he is qualified for a handicap mark.
Murcar did best of the debutants and kept on encouragingly on the inside in the straight, having got outpaced. He is bred to do better over middle-distances and he should improve.
