Auroras Encore had faced a stiff task in a Grade 2 at Doncaster a fortnight ago, but he was right back to his best on this occasion. He made progress to lead after three out, but was headed at the next and then rallied on the run-in without looking like getting there. He should have no trouble going one better in a slightly lesser grade.
Rodrigo Gonzales made the running and just plugged on at the one pace, but he ran well enough under a penalty, while Plein Pouvoir wasn’t helped by the steady pace and looks the sort to do better when he is sent chasing.
