ROARINGWATER had been disappointing since making all in a Hexham bumper on his racecourse debut, but he had been placed off a higher mark in a better raceand had to come into consideration here if he was in the mood, with the blinkers back on for the first time in a while. He went clear before the fourth-last, and although he was idling in front between the last two flights, he saw the finish out well enough to beat a poor bunch decisively.
Better Moment, off the track since running poorly in June, finished clear of the very lightly raced Smiling Applause, but this was not a race one should be trying to take too many positives from.
Favourite Aristi, a winner in similar company at Uttoxeter, ran no sort of race and was pulled up for the second time in four days.
