Northern Boy, having his first run since joining Mick Easterby from David Barron, was always close to the pace and, thoughno match for the winner, ran well enough on this first outing in three months to suggest he will pay his way on the all-weather this winter.
Airman, who started his career in bumpers, struggled with the early pace here and then found some trouble in running; he probably needs further to be fully effective.
