Up In Arms, winnerof a claimer at the course two starts back, came with his challenge stands' side and ran a lot better than when fifth at Folkestone last time, but was not quite able to get past the winner.
Selkirk Grace opted to race down the centre and bounced back from a disappointing effort at Lingfield last time. He likes this sort of ground and is generally a consistent sort.
Adorabella had shown fair form in maidens, including in soft, and she ran well on this handicap debut considering she was givena bit too much to do. There is more to come from her and she can be placed to win before long.
Grande Caiman ran his best race since returning and will be capable of better back on a sounder surface.
Cat De Mille, a soft-ground winner in the past, has been running well off similar marks, but this looked to stretch his stamina.
Manhattan Boy, a multiple winner on the Flat in Germany, looked a potentially smart hurdler until flopping at Cheltenham in December, and he raced far too freely on this first start since. He will remain of interest returned to hurdles laterin the year.
Duelling Banjos, off since winning over course and distance back in June, was 3lb higher here, but ran too poorly for it to be solely blamed on the rise. He probably deserves another chance. (MB)
