Legendary Guest held up, headway over 2f out, soon ridden, weakened inside final furlong
Albaqaa tracked leaders, ridden and every chance over 1f out, weakened inside final furlong
Tina´s Best held up, switched right over 2f out, soon ridden, not trouble leaders
Superduper chased leaders over 4f
Blue Zenith led, ridden and headed over 1f out, weakened inside final furlong
Hunt The Bottle started slowly, held up, effort over 2f out, bumped soon after, ridden and weakened over 1f out
Thunder Gorge started slowly, held up, ridden over 2f out, never dangerous
Edge Of Gold chased leaders, ridden and every chance over 1f out, soon weakened
Farsighted chased leaders over 3f
Candela Bay prominent, lost place over 3f out, weakened over 2f out
Regal Rhythm steadied start, held up, effort over 2f out, soon weakened
The runner-up has been running well in defeat since winning at Haydock earlier in the season and she was travelling particularly well behind runners over 2f out, but tended to wander under pressure and the winner proved too strong.
Tadalavil, winner of a Ripon maiden earlier in the season, has been struggling of late, but this was a much more creditable effort and perhaps the ease in the ground was to hisliking.
Sofia's Star had previously made little impact in handicaps and the blinkers did little to improve him at Sandown last time. This was a much better effort, but he is likely to continue to find a few too good off his current mark.
Legendary Guest has not really gone on from his course debut when chasing home Winker Watson, but he had been dropped 4lb following his recent Haydock effort and the application of a first-time visor enabled him to show improved form.
Albaqaa, who shaped really well in soft ground when second at Newmarket earlier in the season, has since disappointed and looked well worth another try at this trip. Soon prominent, he had his chance, but could not race on with the principals and does not look to be progressing.
Tina's Best, who showed improved form to finish third in a minor sales race at the Curragh, has disappointed either side of that and this effort suggested she is going to remain vulnerable to less exposed sorts.
Blue Zenith has been running well in defeat off similar marks, but she found this a bit too competitive and dropped out having been responsible for theearly pace.
Hunt The Bottle, off the mark in 6f soft ground maiden at Haydock last time, fluffed the start and was always struggling to get involved thereafter.
Edge Of Gold, first past the post in three of her four previous starts, took a valuable Newmarket sales race in soft ground last time and looked fairly treated off a mark of 79 for this nursery debut. However, having held every chance, she could find no more and looked to perform some way below her best.
Candela Bay, ready winner of a modest 5f maiden on debut at Pontefract, handled the firm ground surprisingly well that day considering she is a daughter of the soft-ground loving Captain Rio, and it was not hard to see why she was fancied for this nursery debut off a mark of 68. She showed early pace, but it was clear from well over 2f out she was not going to be supplementing that victory and she has a bit to prove now.
Jamie Spencer reported that Regal Rhythm ran too free. Steve Drowne reported that Edge Of Gold had no more to give. Paul Hanagan reported that the saddle slipped on Perfect Flight. Darryll Holland reported that Legendary Guest hung right. Neil Chalmers reported that Thunder Gorge missed the break. Liam Jones reported that Candela Bay was unsuited by the ground. John Egan reported that Blue Zenith was unsuited by the ground. (MB)
