GAZBOOLOU was always in the thick of it and clung on over a trip that seems to stretch him. He had looked high in the handicap for a Musselburgh maiden winner, but is a game performer, which will not earn any reprieve.
Forbidden had shown nothing like this form on turf, so may turn out to be an all-weather specialist. He should not stay a maiden for long on this showing - on the face of it having a handicap to exploit at a lower level. He got a dream run through against the inside rail and was denied on the nod. His rider had been unable to claim one of his 3lb allowance.
Inside Story deserves rating right up with the principals as he had a far from clear run when threatening to stay on. It was a bit of his own making as he did not have the pace to take a gap, but switched back inside he ran into a wall of horses. When switched outside again to get daylight he lengthened well and would have gone close in another 100yds.
