Another quick time, but this time a finisher ruined the frontrunning bankers as BRONZE CANNON came from last to first in the straight to deny Palm Court, who was always chasing the pace, and Huzzah, who just failed to make all.
As such with the current trend, Bronze Cannon deserves extra credit for reeling them in with the handicapper hardly able to react to this narrow win, although the impression isthat he will go on to better things. He probably faced a rise anyhow, with the successes of his recent maiden victims this week, notably Quam Celerrime in the mud at Folkestone. He has come into his own up to this trip and the way he runs, he looks sure to get further and can live up to his choice breeding.
Palm Court looked uneasy, hanging right early in the straight and hanging his head, although running straight when put under the whip. He still kept on well enough to snatch second off Huzzah and continues to keep strides with the handicapper, who has raised him 11lb since his last all-weather win.
Keenes Day, very slowly away and at the back with the winner, made ground at the same time, but took the inside line and could not produce the same acceleration but this galloper was staying on strongly in the last 100ydsand this storng type will come into his own over further next year.
Noble Citizen travelled well tracking the third up front, but flattened out in the final furlong off his higher mark.
There is not a lot of Spell Caster, who ran as if eventhis mile is too short. She was well outpaced in the big sales race back down in trip last time, but surprisingly was being niggled along at halfway here, but she was keeping on in the final furlong.
Dancing Marabout deserves mention as he finished clear of the rest and took the inside rail line which may just be slower on recent evidence.
