This was a competitive staying handicap hurdle run at just a fair pace, in which ABRAGANTE confirmed the improvement he had shown with blinkers on his previous start at Cheltenham. Raised 15lb for that win, he raced quite keenly early, but coming through in the straight, he got up under strong driving after the last. He's certainly going the right way with the aid of headgear, even though he doesn't look entirely straightforward at times.
Chilling Place keeps going up the handicap for finishing second, and although he did nothing wrong once again, having raced close to the pace, he was worn down near the line. He will go up again as the pair were a couple of lengths clear of the staying-on Tamarinbleu, who ran well with first-time blinkers and defied any doubts about him not getting this trip.
Lough Derg set the pace but dropped out in the straight, and St Matthew was another to fade after racing up with the pace.
