Garston Star made all and soon clear, hit 6th, came back to field 9th, drew right away again before 2 out, comfortably
Silistra held up well off the pace, steady progress 9th, went 2nd after 3 out, soon pushed along and no impression, finished tired
Alina Rheinberg tracked leading trio, went 3rd after 8th, soon no impression, one pace
Mapilut Du Moulin held up in last trio, no real progress after 9th, bumped along and kept on to snatch 4th near finish
New Time tracked leading pair, went 2nd after 8th, ridden and no impression on winner 3 out, soon beaten, eased last 75yds
Percipient always in last trio, no progress after 8th, plugged on
Borehill Joker chased winner until after 8th, soon weakened under pressure, tailed off
Jahash awkward start, well in rear, effort 8th, 6th and under pressure when saddle slipped right around and unseated rider before 3 out
In a race in which very few got competitive, Silistra was the only horse to come from off the pace to land a blow. Presumably, held up in a bidto get the trip, he seemed to stay, although it's hard to be certain as he was beaten such a long way.
New Time was a major disappointment, but there is no doubt that he would have finished fourth but for his rider changing from the accelerator to the brake 50 yards from home. He told the stewards he had eased down because his mount made a noise.
