SPITFIRE, from a sprinting family, was slow to find his stride and had plenty to do from halfway, but he finished to good effect despite showing evident signs of greenness and made up five lengths on the leaders in the final furlong to get up close home. He can only improve.
Diademas, from a stable whose two-year-olds are already firing, was never far off the pace and looked like making a winning debut 100 yards from home, but he did not help his rider by going left under pressure and just found himself touched off. He does not need to find much improvement to win in this grade.
Tuanku was restless in the stalls, but he shaped with some promise, keeping on well in the straight, while Dubai Dynamo was also doing his best work at the finish and is sure to be better for the run.
