Tempelstern tracked leaders, led over 4f out, ridden and stayed on well from 2f out, headed approaching final furlong, stayed on but always held by winner

Rock ´N´ Roller in rear, headway on outside from 3f out, never going pace to be competitive but took modest 3rd briefly inside final furlong, stayed on same pace
Make Haste disputed 2nd until over 4f out, soon ridden, weakened from 3f out
Philatelist chased leaders, ridden 4f out, weakened from 3f out
Mowadeh always towards rear
Winter Lane chased leaders until weakened over 4f out
Storm Path led until headed over 4f out, soon weakened
This was a sizeable trip hike for the American-bred colt who looked better the further he travelled, getting the better ofa set-to with Tempelstern. He looks ready to develop into a contender for valuable three-year-old handicaps such as the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Tempelstern's trainer can hardly put a foot wrong and the grey was backed to upset the favourite. A Dante entrant, he galloped on strongly and took a while to be overcome. He stays this trip and should have no trouble breaking his maiden.
