.He was foundto have a circulatory problem in his foot after wrenching it when sidestepping a fallen rival at Warwick last November but he looks fully back on track here. He did enjoy an uncontested lead for most of the race but looks capable of progressing again.
Denada chased home the winner as he had done at Uttoxeter when the pair were placed last time to suggest he can be found a winning opportunity. He jumped soundly and kept battling away when most had given up.
Highland Chief and Abraham Smith were others who went with the pace but paid for it late, suggesting a drop back in trip will help.
Young Dude was taken wide with conditions deteriorating as the rain lashed down again.
