On paper it had always looked a match, which ended when Harringay crumpled on landing over the second-last when a length down but looking held by BOLD FIRE, who was still travelling easily against a hard-ridden rival. Bold Fire walked through the ninth but otherwise was foot perfect. She was more than useful as a hurdler, has the physique for jumping fences and can go on to better things.
Harringay was again low over her fences a number of times but that did not bring about her downfall as she jumped the second-last well enough but crumpled on landing.
Marjina threatened to blunder her way out a number of times but this strapping mare kept going as others exited. As a three-mile hurdle winner, this was always going to be a minimum trip for her on a course like this but worries remain about her jumping on this evidence.
