OPEN DE L'ISLE, who had got off the mark at Carlisle last time, defied a penalty in pleasing style. He is finally beginning to learn to settle, which has, seemingly, been the key to his progress lately. He clearly handles the mud well and there may be more to come from him.
Lowsha Green, who is rated 103, set the standard for the race and turned in a creditable effort, but Acropolis was made to look a very ordinary hurdler for a horse who, two years ago, finished fourth in no less a Flat race than the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
