Salute always prominent, ridden to lead over 1f out, ran on
Marikhar held up, headway 3f out, soon ridden, went 2nd inside final fulrong, stayed on, always held
Champagne Shadow midfield, headway over 6f out, ridden 4f out, hung left from over 1f out, switched right inside final furlong, stayed on towards finish
Billich soon led, ridden over 2f out, headed over 1f out, no extra inside final furlong
Gallileo Figaro raced keenly, in touch, ridden 4f out, weakened over 3f out
Ariodante prominent, ridden 4f out, losing place when bumped over 2f out, soon weakened
Bay Hawk behind, ridden over 3f out, soon beaten
Irish raider Marikhar, well-beaten over hurdles at Punchestown on his latest outing, was a bit keen on this all-weather debut, but he kept on well in the closing stages for a respectable second and should be able to pick up a similar event.
Billich, raised 8lb for his two wins here last month, cut out the pace on this occasion after being held up on the previous occasions. The change of tactics may not have ideal, but he still turned in a solid effort from the front and only capitulated in the last 150 yards.
